The Importrait Paintings

The Importraits, each of which depict a conversation between “Black” (the artist) and “Red” (the subject), begin at the point where typed language and the language of abstract painting meet. The imagined setting where these conversations take place is the public space of the painting.

The portraits assembled here include those of artists Ross Bleckner, Chrissy Conant and Paul D. Miller, sociologist Hal Jacobs, journalist Patrick McDonald and architect Giulia Pordd.
